– My debut novel

“Carolina pulls her luggage through Arrivals, out of Capodichino Airport, and breathes in the warm air of September. Ah, she has missed it, for sure! (…) She has a strange feeling of dread, but at the same time she feels completely at ease. This feeling makes her heart race and she asks herself why she has left this place at all. (…) She is so happy, that she could run around Piazza del Plebiscito naked, shouting. (…) If only she had imagined, about a year ago, what this amazing spot in the world would have in store for her… (Extract from the Prologue of “

‘Naples is a Paradise: everyone lives in a state of intoxicated self-forgetfulness, myself included. I seem to be a completely different person whom I hardly recognize. Yesterday I thought to myself: Either you were mad before, or you are mad now.’ (Goethe, 1982, p.207)

The inspiration… (click photo for video)

  The novel….

Welcome to Napoli! is an “old baby” of mine…  It all started while I was living and working in Napoli with my husband (2008-2009). It wasn’t love at first sight, but after a while the city completely stole my heart. Its chaotic, pure “what-you-see-is-what-you-get” lifestyle; its mysteries hidden in layers under the streets of the centro storico; its loud and lively people; its surroundings and, of course, the famous pizza Margherita and the horrible stories about the (in)famous Camorra Mafia.

The language is like music (the pure Italian, I’m talking about, because the Napolitan is impossible to understand), and the eternal excuse to live for the dolce far niente (“sweetness of doing nothing”)…

So, surrounded by all that, and allied to the fact that I had the perfect character (hehe my little sister!)… Carolina was born! 🙂

I hope you enjoy reading her adventures as much as I loved writing them! is a perfect read for summer holidays, or just for some chilling time. This will be a great opportunity for you to treat yourself to a great holiday read, and/or to gift someone who is as crazy as chick lit (or Italy, or Margherita pizza, or handsome pizzaiolos), as me! And why not add a little bit of romance? 😉

I hope to see you around!

Thanks for being a fan. 🙂
